Belated Happy Thanksgiving

Well, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I know I'm late but I have just been lazy for the last 4 days. I had a nice Thanksgiving with my family and I did a little shopping this evening. So all in all a great 5 day weekend.

I can't believe some of the sales stores are having. Even groceries are starting to come down. With $1.86 a gallon gas it was inevitable but still a nice surprise.

I picked up a few more presents for Madi and got started on the rest of the family. I even went to Sportsman's Warehouse for my step-dad and brother-in-law's presents. If you know me, you know how odd it is for me to go there. I think we have had that store in this town for 5 years now and I have only been in there twice. Once for work boots and tonight. Anyway, they had a great deal on these Field and Stream watch/leatherman kits. Seriously, I got a great deal. They didn't have a tag on them and there was no record of the item in their store computer so they gave them to me for $10!!! I looked them up on the internet when I got home and they go for $30. I made out like a bandit.

I ran over to Old Navy and got my little sister some shirts for $5 a piece, my older sister her present, and a few more gifts for my nieces and nephews. I still have no idea what to get my mom but I know it will come to me. I thought about getting her a Starbucks coffee set but those things are ridiculously priced.

I put my tree up on Friday and Madi can't seem to leave it alone. It's like a tractor beam just pulling her in. I also got out my other decorations and came across this Winnie the Pooh train that I bought last year on clearance after Christmas. It has Tigger and Pooh on it and they sing some Christmas carols while on a train. Madi loves it and it is now a new toy. I keep trying to show her the difference between a decoration and a toy but I don't think she cares. It lights up and plays music so it's a toy.

Well I think I'm going to call it a night. Hope everyone else is having a great weekend.

Candy Canes Galore

For the last week I have been working on a certain outfit that I wanted to sell on eBay. It's candy cane bell bottom pants, with certain adornments, coordinating shirt, and matching hair bows.

Well, I finally got it done and this morning I went outside to take pictures of Madi in it. I need to find a different model. She looks so adorable in it that I can't possibly sell it. Seriously, it's her outfit. She had so much fun wearing it and I got some great pics that I just decided I would hang onto it for her this Christmas and then if it's still in good condition, sell it next year.

Anyway, here are the pics. I think I found the one I want to use for our Christmas cards this year but that's another post.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Busy Weekend

Hi, sorry it's been awhile since I updated. I have been so busy lately. Last week I worked on stuff for eBay and this weekend was a shopping extravaganza. Seriously, you can not believe the sales they were having.

I sold all of my items on eBay so that makes me happy. I won't feel right about these items until I get feedback, so as you can see it's a vicious cycle. I make the item, wonder if it's good enough, hope it sells, yay it sells, then ship it, and await feedback and hope that the person who bought it likes it.

So, as I type this I am waiting for my sitter to come over to watch Madi so I can take my 8 packages to the Post Office and then go get a turkey. My mom said that City Market is having a really good sale on those right now.

Anyway, I went shopping all weekend. So much fun. On Saturday I went with my mom and sister and we hit up all the craft stores. I got some more ribbon and picked up a Christmas present for my sister-in-law. I'm glad I found something for her because I had no idea what to get.

We stopped by Tuesday Morning and I found an Ariel toddler bedding set for Madi for a really good price. I couldn't believe that I found one considering I have never seen one before. It was just out in the open, in the toy department away from bedding, just waiting for me. Madi was really happy when I gave it to her.

Yesterday, I met up with my friend Nicole and we hit up the toy departments at Target and Kohl's, and then headed over to Herberger's. I had so much fun and even found some great deals. I got Madi a couple more presents and found some things for my niece and nephews.

All in all it was a good week. I hope everyone had a nice weekend and remember...
only 38 more days until Christmas.

Toy Coupons

With the Christmas season almost here every little bit helps. Today while I was cruising the Target website I saw that they are offering coupons on toys! The great thing is that they are offering a $10.00 off coupon on the toy that Madi wants the most. So I thought I would share this news. The holidays are always tight and especially now we need all the help we can get.

Click here to check them out.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

Last night I tried out a new recipe that was in my Family Fun magazine. Both ZK and Bobby saw this recipe and asked me to make it. I have to say that it made me feel good that they actually do read my parenting magazines, especially ZK.

Well, it was a really easy recipe and it was a big hit so into the recipe box it goes. I thought I would share it with everyone on here.

1 Tablespoon of Vegetable Oil
3/4 cup of minced onion
1 garlic clove minced
2 teaspoons of cumin (I only used one)
2 teaspoons of chili powder (again I only used one)
1 1/2lbs of ground beef
2 Tablespoons of Tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
12 flour tortillas

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and saute until the onion has softened (about 6 mins) Add the cumin and chili powder and cook stirring for another minute. Add the beef and cook (while breaking up any lumps) until the meat is no longer pink. Add the tomato paste, salt, and pepper and cook the mixture for another 5 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve with tortillas and the garnishes of your choice. We used cheddar cheese, feta cheese, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and a taco sauce (the one made by Taco Bell. You can get it at any grocery store in the mexican food aisle)

They were so good and filling. Plus I had leftovers for me and Madi for lunch today.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Happy Veterans Day

I wanted to take a moment and say thank you to all of our troops currently fighting in the middle east and to thank all the veterans of this great nation. You are greatly appreciated.

Me Too...

Oh yeah, and check out my eBay stuff. I have been really working this weekend to get a bunch of stuff listed. See I don't like to ship in December unless I absolutely have to. It takes like 2 weeks for the item to get to who it's supposed to and the post office is just a pain. So that's why I try to get it all done in November.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Click here go to my eBay store.

Check It Out

I just wanted to put a plug on my mom's eBay store. She deals mostly with vintage and craft items. I think she has great taste and boy, does she make some beautiful things.

Anyway, you can check out her store here:

Here's a few of her wreaths that she listed yesterday:

Back in the day...

Tonight I'm sitting here in my peaceful house, eating my Ben and Jerry's ice cream, (karamel sutra, yum)and I'm listening to Bon Jovi. Old school Bon Jovi. The good stuff.

The first real music video I remember seeing was the "Living on a Prayer" one when I was like 8. Ah, memories. My mom had the best taste in music. She was a young single mom and she liked to rock out. I remember watching her and my aunt playing quarters and listening to Fleetwood Mac, Men at Work, Billy Idol, and my favorite, Culture Club.

Over the years I've come to realize that almost all of my favorite memories growing up have music attached to them. You know like when you hear that song, you go back to the time and place you were when you first heard it.

Like Warrant's, "She's My Cherry Pie". I was in my uncle J's room, in my grandparents haunted old farm house rocking out to that song. I think I was 9. Or Garth Brooks, "Ain't Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up". I was at my cousin Erin's rodeo and we were joking that was her song and she was going to run off with her cowboy sweetheart. I was 12 at that time and she ended up marrying him a couple of years later. And how "Cowboy Take Me Away", by the Dixie Chicks always reminds me of my grandpa and Silverton. I don't know why but I always think of him when I hear that song.

Now that I'm older the list has just gotten longer. Like anything by Boys 2 Men was our official 8th grade couples song. "My Heart Will Go On", (the Titanic song) will forever be attached to my 11th grade boyfriend. "How Bizaar" by OMC always makes me think of my high school best friend Heather and that summer after sophomore year when all we did was drive around and wait for that song to come on the radio because it never occurred to us to by the CD.

I could just sit here all night and listen to music. What's great though is that I have a husband who has a very eclectic taste in music and has introduced me to more great songs attached to great memories. Like the Used, "I Caught Fire" was our wedding song, how Madi would only sleep to "Eulogy" by Saves the Day, and when we have a few beers we are always listening to Danzig.

I hope that when Madi is older she will associate memories to music and feel the way the I do right now. Happy. Just happy about the life I have led and what has yet to come.

My title explains it all. I have been hair bow happy. I have to say that the ones I have made thus far are so cute and it's going to be hard to part with them.

I finally found some easy instructions that I could follow. Plus it involved a little sewing and that makes me happy.

Anyway, they are coming along nicely and I will be putting them up on eBay Saturday. I'm not quite sure where to price them at so if other people could tell me how much they would pay for them I would appreciate it. So you know, they are 3 inches in length and have a french clip on the back.

Thanks! I hope everyone has a great day.

Change Has Come To America

Today is a great day in our nation. Our voices were heard. Proud, excited, happy, do not even begin to express how I am feeling. When I stood in line to vote today I had a feeling that this was going to turn out well. The change that America so desperately needs is coming.

Barack Obama has become the 44th President of the United States of America. If you listened to his acceptance speech tonight he said so eloquently how he feels about this great nation and her people. He will fight for what is right. He will unite America once more. It's definitely an exciting time.

On a side note I just have to say that John McCain was so gracious and sweet tonight. I believe that he did try his best and 8 years ago he would have made a fantastic president. But America is ready for change.

So my congrats to Obama. You earned it, we earned it, and I believe that we will all prosper because of it.

November Already?

I can't believe it's already November. This year has just flown by. Tonight is fall back and Christmas is less than two months away. Where did 2008 go?

Well, last night was Halloween and it was fun. We took the kiddos trick-or-treating and they seemed to have lots of fun. There were kids everywhere. After that we went to my mom's for a low key Halloween party. It was pretty relaxing.

Today, I went back to Delta so that I could help my mom with her eBay listings. I got her hooked up with photobucket and showed her how to use it to make her listings look really professional.

I'll tell you what though. I am so glad to be home. I have drove over 200 miles in a 24 hour period and I am pooped. Tomorrow I plan on working on my Christmas crafts and catching up on some laundry. Hope everyone has a nice quiet weekend and enjoy that extra hour of sleep.

I'll leave you with a few pics from last night...
